Little Known Ways to Boost Your Energy
By Genevieve Cunningham
We are a nation full of exhausted people. Besides being workaholics, we also deal with societal issues, family responsibilities, and personal problems that arise regularly. Most of us are addicted to some sort of stimulant such as caffeine or sugar. We need the pick-me-up, or functioning like a normal person probably won’t happen. The only problem is that stimulants aren’t always good for our health. If you’d like to cut back on the caffeine without the energy draining side effects, take a look at these lesser known ways to boost your energy and fight fatigue.
Go Outside
The great outdoors are good for your health in general, but it’s really great for boosting your natural energy levels. Not only will you breathe fresh air that invigorates your body and mind, but you’ll also be exposed to natural light. This light tells your body that it’s time to be up and active. While artificial light helps with this as well, it’s not near as powerful as the sun. Go outside for a few minutes a few times a day, and you may find your energy levels rise slowly over time.
Improve Your Posture
The way you physically align your body can make a big impact on both moods and energy levels. If you’re a sloucher, you’re more likely to feel tired, rundown, and irritable. To change this, practice better posture every day. This includes sitting in an upright position with your spine straight and your stomach pulled inward. You should also relax the shoulders in order to reduce tension, and avoid slumping the upper back forward. The better you get at this, the more energy you’ll find yourself without any other change in your habits.
Avoid Afternoon Stimulants
You might think that this will make you feel even more tired, and it will for a few days. But over time, your body will begin to readjust. When you drink caffeine in the afternoon, it might keep you awake, but it will do so at the expense of your sleep. This means less sleep and even more fatigue the next day. It’s a vicious cycle that can be avoided by eliminating the afternoon coffee and relying on your body’s natural rhythm to keep you up and at ‘em.
Almost everyone nowadays needs more energy. We’re all tired and rundown and searching for something to make us feel alive. If you’d like a natural way to do this, look to these three tips to get your energy levels back up and your body feeling better than ever.
