How to Protect Your Skin From Damage
By Genevieve Cunningham
When you live in a sunny location, worrying about sun damage all year long is part of the territory. The sun can be incredibly good for you, but in doses that are too large, it can seriously damage your skin. Skin damage, ranging from mild conditions such as sun spots to serious problems such as skin cancer, is a real concern that needs daily attention. To protect your skin all year long, take a look at these tips.
For the Sun: Never Skip the Sunscreen
When you live somewhere like Porter Ranch, you’re probably not getting away from the sun anytime soon. Instead, just stock up on sunscreen in a big way. You don’t have to slather on SPF 50 every morning, but a gentle moisturizer with a light sunscreen can do wonders for those areas of your body that are always exposed to the sun. The face, the backs of the hands, and the neck should get sunscreen at least once a day, but should receive reapplications throughout.
For the Wind: Apply Moisturizer Often
The wind can be refreshing, but it can also dry out the skin. Dry skin sometimes flakes, becomes itchy, and can contribute to premature wrinkling of the skin. How can you avoid this? Live in moisturizer! Moisturizing your skin should be part of your daily routine. It’s the only way to really make sure that your skin remains soft and supple. Buy a moisturizing lotion that you like, and use it often throughout the day.
For Cleansing: Drink More Water
The skin is one of the ways in which toxins leave the body. When our body is overloaded on junk and chemicals and other toxins, you may notice an outbreak of acne. While acne isn’t generally physically damaging to your health, it can cause serious damage to your mental health, and can also lead to scars in the long run. Drinking more water will allow these toxins to escape at a faster rate. This means you’ll get through the acne stage faster and back to clear, beautiful skin.
Taking care of your skin should be one of your top priorities. It’s good for your overall health, and of course, the skin is one of our first impressions. When it comes to showing off this part of our body, we definitely want that impression to be a good one. Make your skin glow with youth and good health by following these tips and protecting your skin every single day.
