Sweeten Up Your Meals With Pears

For those who are stuck in a rut, it always helps to make a little change in meals.  It really does not take much to do that, just a few minor adjustments may do the trick.  The meat and potato eaters can always stand to do some fine tuning.  It is not so much that they are all bad, but those choices often tend to leave out a few critical things.  Fruits and non-starch vegetables can make any meal more complete.  When looking for fruits, pears are a simple food that can have a significant impact on health.  They have a lot to offer for a simple fruit.

They May Support Heart Health

Many people ignore their heart until they suddenly get bad news.  While that may not be entirely too late, it is better to do something along the way.  Pears contain a natural vasodilator, which widens the blood vessels.  Potassium can help the blood vessels to have the ability to expand when needed.  This works to maintain blood pressure when there may be excessive force allowing the vessels to carry a larger volume of blood without damaging the heart with back pressure.  Potassium is what many people lack in their diets to counter the effects of salt.

They May Strengthen Bones

Bone density and strength is often reliant upon the body taking in and assimilating minerals.  Pears are an excellent source of many of these.  Magnesium, manganese, calcium, phosphorous, and copper are all found in significant amounts.  Eating a simple pear each day may have a powerful impact on overall health, particularly in regards to strengthening bones.  They may be able to take the place of a few supplements for some people.  For the amount of benefit, the price and effort are considerably small.

Kids know what is good and what is not.  They are usually the best judges of those things.  Most of them really like pears.  Ours always have.  They are sweet and easy to eat.  Whether they are eaten raw or cooked, they can be a treat.  They are really good in preserves.  It won't take much for you to find a way that your family enjoys eating them.  Just pick up a few and let the kids decide how they like them best.  They are worth a try.
