How to Consider Diet and Exercise on Date Night

By Brandi Goodman

A typical date night tends to consist of dinner and a movie. Although this is fine to enjoy on occasion, it shouldn't be your go-to every time. It's important to consider both your diet and exercise even on date night so you and your companion can both focus on health. There are lots of ways to incorporate both into the evening.

Pack a Picnic

Rather than go to a restaurant, pack a picnic. You get to be completely in control of what goes into your food if you make it yourself. You can make a homemade meal that offers lots of nutrition for you and your date to enjoy. A nutritious meal will leave you feeling satisfied and energized so you have the stamina to continue on with your evening. A fattening meal could leave you tired and full, ready to call it a night.

Plan a Fitness Date

To get in plenty of exercise, plan a fitness date. You have lots of options to choose from. A walk in the park is an easy possibility. You could also go rock climbing, take a swim, join a fitness class, go dancing, or even play laser tag. Lots of choices exist that will have your body moving and enjoying some unique one-on-one time with your partner.

Review the Menu Ahead of Time

Maybe it's been a while since you and your date went to a restaurant and it's really your heart's desire the evening. You can still go -- just be sure to review the menu ahead of time. Take a look and see if the place offers some sort of diet-friendly section. If they don't, then look at what the other offerings are and pick out which choice is the healthiest. Knowing what to order ahead of time can help you stick with that when it comes time to order so you don't opt for a worse choice when dinner time rolls around. Give your partner the menu so they have the same option.

Your diet and exercise should always be on your mind. It's fine to indulge on a calorie-filled meal once in a while and also fine to want to sit and watch a movie, but this shouldn't always be what your date night is like. Think about the health and well-being of both you and your date and come up with unique plans that give you the chance to bond over
