Enjoy a Painless Summer With Chiropractic Guidance
By Brandi Goodman
Summer is supposed to be a time of fun and adventure. That doesn't mean it's free from troubles, however. You never know when some seemingly harmless fun can lead to loads of pain as you become injured during an activity. Enjoy a painless summer with some chiropractic guidance and avoid the dangers that can sometimes brew.
Stretch Before Any Activities
Lots of activities are usually on a person's summer to-do list. Before you engage in any of these activities, however, you must stretch. Stretching is imperative to avoid injury and keep your joints limber. Fully stretch out your arms, legs, and back so you have less of a chance of getting hurt. Make sure you're stretching after as well to help yourself recover from all the work your body just did.
Keep Your Body Hydrated
You lose a lot of your body's water content when you sweat. Summer is all about sweating for some. For this reason, it's imperative to keep your body hydrated all summer long. You need to be sure you're getting plenty of water and maintaining your fluid levels so you never succumb to the heat.
Spend Time in the Water
Exercise is great for the mind and body alike. Working out on land does create some tension because of the toughness of the ground you're standing on. Working out in water, though, is a different story. It isn't as harsh on your joints and allows you to move more freely. Spend what time you can in the water this summer as a way to get in some great exercise and avoid the pain that can come with it.
Bring a Seat or Support
You may not typically think of this before heading out somewhere, but you really should be considering the type of seating that will be available anywhere you go. A small seat with no back support is going to leave you feeling an ache in your backside pretty quickly. You should be bringing along your own seat, such as a stadium seat intended for bleachers, if you know there will be small spots or backless benches to sit on. A lumbar support cushion is also an option you could bring along to enhance your level of comfort and prevent pain.
If you still manage to experience some discomfort after your summer adventures, be sure to stop in at The Joint Chiropractic for an assessment. You can get some help with correcting joint restrictions that are inhibiting your movement as well as receive guidance on additional steps to take to keep yourself safe all summer long and thereafter.
