3 Healthy Habits to Include in Your 2018

By Virginia Laird

There is nothing as complicated and motivating as selecting the right new year’s resolutions. These are complicated because most tend to stress over what to choose and how to be successful. Setting these goals are also motivating as many look at the resolutions with a new hope that this year success is achievable. Before you decide on yours, you may consider simply changing a few of your current habits. These can include:

  • Drink more water
  • Take your lunch to work
  • Eat less candy

Drink More Water

Making sure to drink enough water offers many benefits to your overall health. Health and wellness professionals recommend everyone should consume at least half of their body weight in ounces each day. Staying hydrated can help keep the body functioning properly, including the immune system. Now that flu season is here (and in full swing) keeping your immune system working is vital. Make sure to prioritize drinking enough water.

Take Your Lunch To Work

For those who would really like to make some very healthy changes in the new year and save a little money, taking your lunch to work is a fantastic and subtle change to make. Many who choose to eat out for lunch daily spend in the neighborhood of $50 per week or more. Taking your lunch to work not only allows you to save a ton, it also allows you to make healthy choices. If you are considering making a commitment to your health, invest in a lunchbox and start packing your lunch.

Eat Less Candy

For those wanting to improve their health quickly, one of the best choices to make is to cut out the candy. For starters, candy is expensive. Therefore, cutting it out can save you some serious money. Eating too much candy can lead to a few serious problems with your health, including weight gain and adult onset diabetes. Do yourself a favor and cut back on your candy consumption.

If you aren’t ready to commit to all three of these healthy lifestyle changes, pick just one. Once you have mastered a single goal, it is easy to add another. Adding goals one at a time throughout the year can help you stay focused and reach a point of success for each. Good luck and may 2018 be your best and healthiest year yet!
