Why Weights are King of the Gym

The gym is a place with many avenues of interest. If you love cardio, there’s something for you. If you love boxing or aerobics or dance, there’s probably something that you’ll enjoy. But if there was one thing in the gym that everyone should give a try, it’s definitely weights. Take a look at why lifting weights is king of the gym, and how it can enhance your body and your health in no time.

Weights are Fat Burners

Weights, as we all know, help to build muscles. But what you may not realize is that the building of muscles is what ultimately leads to greater fat burn. Can you burn fat without weights and muscles? Probably … but the results will be so much better with them. As our muscles grow, they demand more energy from our bodies, and this means that it requires more calories to burn. The stronger your muscles, the more energy your body expends, and the more likely you are to burn off that excess fat.

Weights are What Really Sculpt

When most of us say that we want to lose weight, we actually mean that we want to lose fat! As mentioned above, weights help us to burn more fat. But what does this mean for body composition? After all, it’s what we see in the mirror that really matters for most. As your muscles grow and the fat burns, you may notice that wonderful definition that you’ve been looking for. You may notice a slight indentation in your biceps, or you may see a development of leg muscles that you’ve never seen before. When many people hear that weights are so good for their health, they immediately wonder whether they can just go ahead and skip the other sweat sessions. The truth is that you should do what your fitness professional suggests, but generally speaking, there’s no reason to give up your other workouts. The best results come from weights AND a healthy cardio routine. Stick with what you’re doing, but add some sessions in the weight room as well.

Lifting weights is an intimidating thing for many people. But once you get past the intimidation, you may be shocked at how much good it can bring to your body and life. Next time you’re at the gym, give it a try and watch the changes to your body roll in like never before.
