3 Fun Exercises for Toning the Legs

The legs are such a challenging area of the body to sculpt. Though we have really big muscle groups in the bottom half of our body -- the glutes and quadriceps -- we also tend to hold a little weight in this area. For many people, this means hundreds and hundreds of squats and lunges are done every week in the hopes of toning this area. But what if it doesn’t have to be quite so typical and boring? If you’re ready to sculpt your lower half into something to be proud of, take a look at these classes that you should try today.

Any Cycling Class

Spin, SoulCycle, or just hopping on a stationary bike … it all targets the legs like no other. While these classes definitely focus on burning calories, almost all of the muscle work is below the waist. The glutes, quads, and hamstrings are especially targeted. With the massive calorie burn plus the excessive focus on these muscles, you may find your bottom half sculpting out like never before.


Think of barre a bit like ballet. The class is done, quite literally, at a ballet barre. The moves require your legs to be elongated and stretched for each move. While it might not work your legs as hard or as quickly as a bicycle, it definitely targets the lower half. Think squats, leg lifts, and other moves that require both stability and balance in the legs. Chances are good that you’ll leave your first class (or 50th!) with burning legs and a soreness that lets you know it’s working.


To be fair, this really tough class is good for almost every body part. CrossFit focuses on everything! You’ll work the arms, legs, abs … all while improving cardio and lifting weights. The truth is that CrossFit is hard, but it definitely works. If you want to tone the legs (or any other part of your body), there’s no harm in checking out your local CrossFit gym and joining in on the very challenging fun.

Most people take a little issue with their legs. It’s a place that tends to hold fat and make us feel a little insecure. But with the right workouts, you can tone this area and boost your confidence all at the same time. Try these classes, feel the burn, and be proud of your lower half before you know it.
