Chiropractic Care for Multiple Conditions
By Randi Morse
For a long time people thought that chiropractic treatments were "hippy" or "fake." Today we know better. Not only is chiropractic treatment used to help a wide array of problems, physicians often refer their patients to a chiropractor. While there will always be people who question the validity of alternative health methods, the truth is that there are dozens of health issues a chiropractor can help with.
Here are some common complaints that are no-brainers for chiropractic.
Headaches - Having a headache can make daily living a challenge. It can prevent you from working or even doing household chores. It doesn't matter what type of a headache you have, a tension headache, a migraine, or a cluster headache, headaches hurt. The chiropractor can help ease a headache and also help to prevent them from forming. Headache pain is often caused due to the vertebrae in the spine being misaligned. With the right adjustments, and with regular chiropractic care, you will find that the frequency of your headaches decreases. They may even disappear completely.
Lower back - It often surprises people how much lower back pain can affect your daily life. We don't realize how many times we bend over, reach for things, or twist. All these things, and many more, use the muscles in the lower back, and if your spine isn't aligned correctly, the muscles can't function properly. If you have a lumbar strain or sprain, or if you just have pain and are not quite sure why, chiropractic care can help. Not only can they work with a "misaligned" spine, they can also help with the tension in the muscles and tendons, helping to ease your pain significantly.
Shoulders - If you sit at a desk you may find that you deal with shoulder pain regularly. Shoulder pain is a common complaint and can be caused by a variety of things. Many times the pain is caused by a spinal or shoulder alignment issues. Shoulder pain can significantly decrease your range of motion, making tasks more difficult and more painful. With chiropractic care you can see amazing improvement in the pain, and the range of motion, of your shoulders.
The reputation of chiropractors has changed a lot -- they are no longer looked down on in the professional community -- but there are still a lot of people who don't know all the conditions a chiropractor can help with. That is something that we need to change.
