Follow the Chiropractor's Advice on Everyday Tasks
By Brandi Goodman
Some of what seem to be the simplest tasks that you've been handling for a while can actually be the culprit of your pain and discomfort. The way you do certain activities can wreak more havoc on your body than you realize. Follow the chiropractor's advice for these everyday tasks so that you're accomplishing them in a safe manner.
Avoid Driving With a Wallet in Your Pocket
Many people leave a wallet or other items in one of the back pockets of their jeans. This causes you to sit unevenly as you're driving. You may notice some lower back and hip pain because of this. Avoid driving with a wallet or anything else in your back pocket so that you may sit correctly and avoid the discomfort.
Break Up Your Shopping Trip
Spending hours at a time shopping can lead to aches if you aren't careful. Especially when you're shopping at a mall, you should be sure to break up your trip and make frequent runs to the car to put your bags inside. You don't want to carry a lot at once, or else you'll put uneven weight on one side of your body and cause pain in your shoulder, back, or both. This short break will be just what you need to get back inside and shop some more. Otherwise, come back another day when you're ready to try again. Don't overdo it.
Tackle Chores With the Whole Family
Whether you have a house to clean, a season or holiday to decorate for, or you just need to do some tidying up after a gathering, make sure the whole family is involved. One person should never be left to handle a household full of chores. Everyone should pitch in so the process goes faster and less pain is likely to develop because of overworking.
Stop Letting Yourself Get Tech Neck
Tech neck has become far too common. You don't have to look down at your phone to view it. Instead, set it up on a shelf so you can view it hands-free. Connect the device to your television so you can pull websites up bigger. Quit spending significant amounts of time looking down and letting yourself develop tech neck.
Prevention is key for keeping pain at bay. Do what you can to avoid discomfort in your life so you don't have to deal with annoying aches. If you still feel uncomfortable or have a serious kink in your neck, stop in at The Joint Chiropractic for an assessment. You may have a subluxation in place that needs correcting.
