Tips for a More Productive and Less Stressful Day
By Donna Stark
We all have those days or weeks when, no matter how hard we work, things just don't get done in time. And it's not that we are trying to be unproductive, it just seems to end up that way, doesn't it? On top of that, there is nothing worse than the stress that comes from not being able to get everything accomplished that we want to. If you find yourself in a situation like this, take heart! Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have some simple suggestions that will help you get your tasks completed faster and easier than ever before. Take a look.
Make a To-Do List
One of the most important tools you can use to stay on schedule with your tasks is a to-do list. By identifying your priorities and listing your tasks in order of importance, you can see what needs to be accomplished and can plan how much time you can afford to spend on each item. To-do lists also help you stay accountable.
Stick to Your Routines
It's hard to be productive when you fall out of your normal routine, so stay consistent with yours! Daily routines keep us grounded and steady throughout the day. When we follow a routine, we don't waste time trying to figure out what to do next and our work becomes a lot easier and less time-consuming to do.
Follow the One-Touch Rule
Have you heard about the one-touch rule? Basically, this rule keeps you from leaving things unfinished and then needing to go back later in the day to deal with it again. So, for example, if you walk out to get your mail, don't bring it home and just throw it on your table to go through later. Use the one-touch rule instead. Bring it in, take a look at it, and toss out the junk immediately. By doing it this way, you are saving yourself an extra task and precious time later in the day.
Do the Bigger Stuff First
If you know you start to fade by the middle of the day, make sure you are getting the biggest, or most important, tasks out of the way first thing in the morning. Doing so is one of the most effective ways to stay on top of those high-priority items, and it also provides more flexibility during your afternoons and evenings.
Staying Productive
In addition to increasing your daily productivity, following the tips above will also help reduce a ton of the stress that comes from falling behind. So, start today, and see how much of an impact these suggestions can make!
