Stay Fit By Walking, Swimming and Chiropractic Visits

By Paul Rothbart

Staying healthy both mentally and physically is tied to fitness. To stay fit, you need to exercise. It's pretty simple. However, you don't have to train like a triathlete or bodybuilder to reap the benefits of better fitness and health. In fact, lower intensity exercise can be much more effective in improving the health of the average person. Depending on the season and what your preferences are, either walking or swimming regularly can do a great job of keeping you healthy. Chiropractic care can also contribute.

Walking

Walking may not seem like much of an exercise. After all, you've been walking every day since you were an infant. But taking a brisk walk of just 20 minutes each day can bring big health benefits. Walking burns calories and is an excellent form of cardiovascular exercise. It can help keep blood pressure in check, lower cholesterol, and reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Because it's low intensity, walking doesn't put a strain on your feet and joints. It can also be good for mental health as getting outside in the sun is a great way to stave off depression.

Swimming

If you enjoy being in the water, you won't find a better exercise than swimming. Whether it's in a lake, ocean, or pool, swimming is an excellent way to keep the cardiovascular system in shape. You don't have to be a Michael Phelps either. Much like walking, swimming for 20 minutes at an easy pace is all you need to keep your muscles toned, as well as control blood pressure and cholesterol. The buoyancy of the water means the stress of gravity on your body is greatly reduced. Swimming is without question, one of the best ways to exercise and stay healthy.

Seeing a Chiropractor

Even if your exercise is of low intensity, you still have a job, a house, and perhaps a family to take care of. These things can put stress on your body. You may have aches and pains, maybe a sore back or joints. A chiropractor can examine your body and find the source of these problems. There may be subluxations in your back or joints. Chiropractors can perform adjustments that correct the problems and relieve pain. This can help you stay active and continue your daily exercise.

You need exercise to stay healthy. But you don't have to work out like an elite athlete. Walking and swimming at a brisk, but easy pace can work wonders. Consider a visit to The Joint Chiropractic. You don't need an appointment and you may find that chiropractic care helps you stay active and in good health.
