Your Spring Diet and Exercise Routine
By Brandi Goodman
Spring is a time for change. That isn't only referring to the weather outside and the new growth of plants occurring. Your diet and exercise plan should change up for the spring season as well. You'll have better energy and an increased capacity for spending time outdoors when you're adequately prepared.
Enjoy Fresh Fruit
Plenty of fruit springs up in the springtime. Eating fruit intended for the season ensures you get some of the most flavorful pieces with the biggest benefits to your health. Strawberries, papayas, oranges, and limes are some good April options. Each one offers an abundance of Vitamin C, antioxidants, fiber, and more nutrients.
Eat Your Spring Vegetables
Vegetables should be on your spring eating list as well. Choose the ones in season and you'll be experiencing the best there is to offer in terms of quality and freshness. Asparagus, artichokes, rhubarb, watercress, and chicory are just a few options. You'll gain plenty of fiber and nutrients from these offerings.
Engage in Outdoor Activity
If you spent the winter cooped up inside, now is a great time to engage in outdoor activity. Get your exercise for the day by heading outside and finding a physical activity you enjoy doing. You could take a walk around a local park to enjoy the scenery. You could go for a bike ride. You could even toss the ball around with your kids or have some fun with them on the playground. Getting fresh air while you work out is a great way to boost your endorphins and have the energy you need to succeed.
Spring Clean!
Spring cleaning is a thing for a reason. You're cleaning up the accumulated junk that's been stressing you out as well as getting some exercise time in. Open the windows, turn on the music, and get cleaning. You'll work up a sweat as you enjoy seeing your home become cleaner by the minute. It's a win in multiple ways and will help you de-stress and feel more at ease.
Spring is in session. Use this time of change to switch up your diet and exercise routine so you can make the most of your April and May months and feel great in the process. A diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and a new workout plan will make your mind and body feel their best.
