3 Possible Signs of Heart Disease - 1st Week

There are few more important parts of your body than the heart. This muscle pumps blood throughout your entire being, giving it plenty of oxygen to keep it healthy. When its health suffers, it can cause subsequent damage to other parts of your body as well. But, unless you have pain or a serious episode, how are you supposed to know whether your heart is healthy or not? While not the case for everyone, check out these three possible signs of a heart problem.

Swollen Feet

If your feet are swollen at the end of the day, it could be a sign that you’ve overworked your feet or simply been on them for too long. It could also mean that your heart isn’t pumping blood efficiently. When this happens, your heart can’t quite get the proper amount of blood to the farthest areas of your body, such as your feet. This may manifest as swollen feet and toes at the end of the day.

Dizzy Spells

If you’re feeling dizzy, it could be a sign of many different things. Malnutrition, low blood sugar, dehydration, and inner ear problems are all common causes of dizzy spells. But, it could also mean that the arteries leading to and from your heart are clogged or partly clogged, meaning less blood and oxygen for your body. If you have frequent dizzy spells, it might be time to get a quick checkup in order to determine the cause.

You’re Frequently Out of Breath

If you’ve just run or walked a long distance, feeling out of breath is completely normal. It might also be normal if you carry around a significant amount of extra weight. But if you’re fit or mostly healthy, and still find yourself out of breath with simple activities, it might be a clue to get the state of your heart examined. It could mean a buildup of fluid around the heart, thus making you feel short of breath even when you should be feeling fine.

If you experience any of these symptoms, you don’t have to jump straight to heart problems as a diagnosis, but it might be worth a trip to the doctor just for peace of mind. Considering we can’t live without this vital body part, keeping it healthy is crucial. Pay attention to any symptoms, get checked often, and protect yourself from heart disease for a lifetime of healthy living.
