How to Fight Illness Before It Even Shows Up
By Genevieve Cunningham
Illness can be a serious bummer. Not only does it make you feel physically bad, it also disrupts your life. You can't work, can't concentrate, and don't have any energy. It's miserable. Most people would rather skip the illness altogether. But is that even possible? While it's not possible to avoid all germs and illness, it might be possible to boost your body's response to germs and thus decrease your instances of sickness. If you're ready to feel well every day, take a look at these tips to encourage better health in your life.
Use Prevention Techniques
Let's not forget the power of prevention. If you want to stay well, do your best to avoid germs as much as you can. This means doing things like regularly washing your hands, staying in when you're ill, and avoiding other obviously sick people. You might also carry hand sanitizer or wipes with you when you're out and about. The more germs you can eliminate from the surface -- your hands, bags, counter tops -- the fewer you'll breathe in to make you sick.
Eat a Nutritionally Sound Diet
Your diet is really important. If you're not eating good food, it's going to show in your general wellness. So what does a healthy diet look like? It should be full of vegetables, some fruit, and lean meats. It should also include complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. Your caloric intake will depend entirely on your own body composition. While a healthy diet won't eliminate all germs from your life, it will give your body a better chance of fighting them off before they create noticeable disease.
See Your Doctor Before You're Sick
Prevention, prevention, prevention. Why do we wait until we're sick before we visit the doctor? If you want to avoid illness, see your healthcare professional long before you have any symptoms. Go for yearly checkups. Get to know your doctor, and get advice for living your healthiest life. Your doctor is not only there to heal your ailments. The doctor can also help you maintain good health so that the big procedures are (hopefully) never even necessary.
We can't avoid all illness. We're going to catch colds and sometimes the flu and sometimes other types of sickness. But we can certainly do our best to strengthen our bodies and avoid as much as possible! Use these tips to keep the illness away from your body and life, and enjoy better health from here on out.
