What You Eat Really Does Make You What You Are

By Tom Herrin

There are plenty of segments of health to be concerned about.  For good reason, people are highly interested in heart health, diabetes, and bone health.  While there are several things that can affect those parts of the human health picture, many of them can be addressed by digestive health.  Managing digestive health can be easy and effective with a little education and good planning.  Breaking down the parts to focus on can help to develop a simple working plan for improvement.

Fiber Is A Part Of Any Good Plan

High fiber diets are essential for inclusion in a healthy diet.  The fibers can do several things for health.  Soluble fibers can help to clean the arteries and remove fats and cholesterol.  They also help with utilizing water in the diet.  Insoluble fibers do a great job of cleaning out the colon.  Both kinds of fibers help to prevent constipation and move food through the body.  In this, they can help to alleviate many of the other problems related to the colon and its common associated diseases.  Managing weight is another benefit.

Fats Have Little Place In Good Diets

There are times when a person needs fats, but most of the time it is not the case.  Low fat diets are known to increase the length of some of the DNA material, which actually increases lifespan.  Fats also contribute to clogged arteries and generally complicate digestion.  They increase the instances of constipation.  While protein is essential in a good diet, lean meat can fill that need the best.  Lower fat and higher protein are large parts of a healthy diet.

Water Is The Most Essential Element

It really is almost impossible to get enough water.  It is lost primarily through perspiration and respiration.  In addition to that, most people simply fail to take in enough water, too often replacing it with other kinds of liquids.  It can help to improve the process of the body digesting food.  Many times when people feel hungry, they are actually thirsty.  Drinking water can also help dissolve fats.  Combining a little regular exercise with a good supply of water will go a long way toward facilitating weight loss as well.  It also helps to reduce stress.  Eating smart can build a healthier body because we really are what we eat.
