Whatever Your Start Time, Eat Breakfast

This is not the world that most people’s grandparents lived in.  The idea that most jobs are either 8 to 5, or something similar, has changed considerably.  It is now pretty common for people to work odd hours or shifts. Many of them may actually begin their day as late as noon or after.  What they should probably remember is that whenever they begin that day, they should still consider the fact that they need certain kinds of foods to maximize performance.  Breakfast foods are noticeably different from those eaten at other times of the day for good reason. The time is not as important as the fact that some things are needed to be consumed at the start of the day for better performance over the next 14 to 18 hours. Breakfast is a key to good health.

It May Help Protect Brain Function

The body is made up of a lot of intricate parts.  Food supplies what is needed for the muscles and internal organs, but it is also critical for keeping the brain operating as it should.  Potassium, selenium, and magnesium are needed in order for the brain to function properly. This may protect overall mental health as well as help to prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.  

It May Prevent Cravings

When people eat fruits or drink juices at breakfast, they can satisfy that desire for sweets enough that people are less likely to crave them.  The vitamins and other nutrients they can provide also help to satisfy hunger. Many times, when people feel as if they simply have to eat something, they may be lacking something in their diet.  Some of the times it has become a habit. Eating or drinking a limited amount of some of these fruits or juices can be just enough without that urge to overdo.

It May Help the Hair

Many people go to great lengths in order to make their hair look healthy.  In order to look its best, hair requires good nutrition. My mother was a cosmetologist for many years and always made a point about the need for protein to make hair look good.  People who have poor diets sometimes have hair that shows the lack of nutrition. When you are looking to ensure certain things are included in your diet, breakfast is a good way to start.  Plan the one you want and make it be yours.
