Time May Be Squeezed Successfully for Better Health

By Tom Herrin

There is no secret about the fact that many people need more exercise.  It only takes a glance around to form an opinion about the shape of people's shapes.  It is often out of tune, to say the least.  When they make the next move to begin an exercise program they may feel obligated to spend long periods of time involved in a session each time they do something.  Better news is that much may be accomplished in a relatively short period of time.  A good workout may be had in only a few minutes if done on a regular basis.  Planning is always a key to any such activity in order to have the success that is desired.

Intensity May Work in Short Bursts

Everything does not have to be done in every workout session.  It has been found that many people can have a measure of success by cutting their time and going hard for short periods.  In some cases, this may only seconds.  In others, it could be minutes.  Doing this intermittently mixed with slower paced exercises has shown promise.  These intense activities may be some kind of heavy exercise, or it may be something such as spinning or riding a stationary bike.  The point is to go at it harder than normal.  These sessions have shown to yield good vital signs and positive results.

Even a Session on the Stairs May Help

For those who work or live in some kind of building with stairs, they may be able to do what they need by simply making a few trips up and down their stairs.  Whether they are measuring by minutes or trips, they may be able to improve their health considerably by spending a little time doing this on a regular basis.  Daily would likely be the best.

Try a Custom Fit

There is really no formula for short exercise sessions that everyone needs to follow.  I like to be a little creative when I am trying to follow a new routine.  We can often look around and find things we can do that will allow us to spend 10 or 15 minutes exercising.  What we all seek is results.  Some of this may be measured by our basic numbers such as weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.  If these things go well, we should be able to consider our efforts a success.  The other thing that is important is to judge by how we feel.  If these two things combine well, we may be onto something.
