Be Happy and Live Longer

If you would like to live longer, there is probably a product out there that claims to be able to help you do that.  At least, it seems as if there is something that claims to do everything, but that doesn't mean it will.  For many years, people searched for a fountain of youth.  The real truth is that longer life may well be possible for those who are willing to make substantial commitments.  It may not require anyone to work endless hours.  It may simply be a matter of making some good decisions based on sound information.

Never Retire from Moving

Many of us look forward to a time in which we may be able to slow down and take it easy.  While it may sound great, it may actually be the kiss of death for many.  How often have you known of someone who retired and saw their health take a nose-dive?  When we go from activity to complacency, it can be a difficult adjustment.  If we want to continue to enjoy good health, it is necessary that we continue to move.  Just walking may help, but engaging in a good moderate exercise program can keep our heart in better shape and boost our immunities.  

Take Advantage of Screenings

In today's world, we have the advantage of all kinds of tools to monitor health.  Many recommended screenings are covered by insurance plans.  Some are readily available almost anywhere.  Blood pressure monitors can be found in most all pharmacies and are easy to use.  Several other kinds are available as mobile units.  I try to take advantage of as many as possible.  When we know about potential problems early, we have a much better chance of intervening and improving the quality of life we enjoy.

Join the Community

There are few things that can make life better than becoming a part of the community.  Many people choose to lose themselves while serving others, and it pays off.  Whether it is working with youth, those with special needs, or some other group, doing something for others can provide a wonderful feeling.  It also gives us the opportunity to work with others who have some similar desires.  Being part of something good can help us to have a feeling of worth that is difficult to explain.  It can help to reduce stress as well as bring us joy.  Both of which may play a role in longer life.
