Outdoor Workouts That are Perfect for Summer
By Genevieve Cunningham
Summer is the time of year that people like to get outside! The sun is out and warm. The air is breezy and fresh. The grass is green and the flowers are bright. It’s the perfect recipe for days and nights spent outdoors. It’s also a great time to change up your workout. How? Take it outside as well. While you may not be able to do all kinds of exercise outside, there are some great options that can be done outdoors easily. Take a look at these choices to perform outside in the fresh air.
Get in the Swimming Pool
If you have access to an outdoor swimming pool, take full advantage of the summer months! Go for a swim anytime of day to workout as well as cool down. If you’re not keen on doing laps, buy some water weights and use them in the water. Don’t have access to weights? Use a pool noodle instead. Even walking in the water becomes more challenging just because of the resistance. This is one of those activities that is made for summer, so find a pool and take a dip.
Go for a Hike
It might be hot out, but it’s the perfect season for hiking. If walking is your thing, take it up a notch by doing some hiking. Most places have local trails made just for hiking. Do some digging in your area to find the best ones. Then buy some supportive shoes, pack some water, and get moving. Some hiking trails are incredibly challenging, but others are made for beginners. Find one that suits your needs and enjoy the great outdoors.
Jump on a Bike
Remember that old favorite pastime of riding a bike? Now is the perfect time to pick it back up. Riding a bike is an excellent workout. It works the legs, challenges the lungs, and burns massive amounts of calories. And don’t forget that it’s a ton of fun. Get a bike for summer and enjoy the breeze and the fun workout.
Why not use the summer as a time to change up the workout and get fit? With these exercises, you may be able to do just that. Give one or all of them a try this summer, and enjoy that time spent in the great outdoors while still getting in the best shape of your life.
