How to Improve Your Back Health

OK, so you mustn't have perfect posture, but you should pay attention to your posture to keep your back healthy. When you stand, sit, or walk with poor posture, you’re fatiguing the muscles that help to keep you upright. This can eventually lead to muscle imbalances, joint dysfunctions, and joint restrictions. You’ll limit your mobility, too. So, break the habit of bad posture by reminding yourself often to fix your posture. You can do this through sticky notes around the house and office to remind you, or by setting reminders on your phone or computer.

Hydration

You can also ensure good back health through staying hydrated. The discs that help to cushion the bones in your spine are made up mostly of water. This enables them to do their job properly and protect your back. Keep them working as they should by drinking water throughout the day to ensure proper hydration.

Get Active

If you spend a lot of time sitting, then you may start to notice an impact on the health of your back. You can remedy this by making sure to get your body up and get moving. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to start a standard exercise program (though you should!); just moving around more can help.

Ask for Help

You may feel as if it’s easier to do things yourself, but if something is too large or heavy for you to move on your own, then you must ask for help. Neglecting to do so can put you at risk for a back injury that can potentially lead to large problems with your back over the course of your life. That hardly makes it worth it to not ask for help!
