Exercise Tips for Chiropractic Patients

One of the biggest concerns a chiropractor has is to help prevent injury. They achieve this through chiropractic adjustments to help you resolve any joint dysfunction and restriction you may be experiencing. You can enhance this treatment by exercising regularly and building strong, toned muscles to better support your spine health. Here are a few exercise tips from your chiropractor that can keep you healthy between adjustments.

Don’t Forget to Warm Up

Before you ever start any exercise, you need to make sure to prepare your body for what you’re about to undertake. You can do this by performing a series of dynamic moves designed to boost your heart and breathing, warming up the muscles in the process.

You can easily do a few leg lunges, arm circles, and march in place to get things going and lowering your risk for injury.

Go Ergonomic

You need to practice good ergonomics at home and at work in order to keep your body healthy. This may not specifically count as exercise, but it does involve movements you perform several times over the course of the day when you’re at work or home. At work, you need to make sure your chair is adjusted correctly as well as your computer screen and keyboard. At home, make sure your mattress is supportive enough and that your other furniture supports your body in a healthy way, too.

Get Good Workout Shoes

The shoes you exercise in make a big difference in keeping your healthy. So make sure you choose shoes that offer flexibility, stability, and comfort to you as you exercise. The shoes should feel good from the moment you put them on and give you plenty of room in the toes. They should also feel like they offer support to your foot and leg as you move. Proper cushioning is important too.

Stretch

You have to target large muscle groups when you stretch after exercise. Use your body weight to slowly stretch your back, hips, and hamstrings. Make sure you make gentle movements and never move far enough that you cause yourself pain.
