In this day and age of climate controlled environments and artificial lights, many people tend to isolate themselves with the modern conveniences that abound.  Sometimes the basics are simply just that.  More sunshine is natural and has always been one of the most basic necessities of life.  People used it for what it was.  They often adjusted their schedules and activities according to the available light.  Houses and schools were often designed according to the availability of light.  Utilizing it wisely could save energy as well as improving the work environment.  Using sunshine in the right way today can have a similar effect.  It is one of the simplest and least expensive things that can be used to improve health.  

It Can Jump Start The Day

A lot of people just can’t seem to get themselves going in the morning.  They set all kinds of alarms and try to trick themselves into waking up effectively.  Sunshine is a really natural source of getting people up and ready to be productive.  It is not just that it is light shining in their eyes, it actually serves to stop the body from producing melatonin, which is the hormone that tells people it is dark and time to sleep.  Sunshine can help people to feel more awake and energized.  

It Can Improve Your Mood

Sunshine is known to boost the production of a hormone that is responsible for putting people in a better mood.  Serotonin is responsible for literally making people happy.  When people feel happy, it goes without saying that they are less stressed.  This is always beneficial for helping to control blood pressure and make people feel well.

With an increasingly large aging population, more people are concerned about memory loss and other problems related to dementia.  For those who can remember to get more sunshine, they can possibly see an exponential improvement in their memory by doing so.  Higher levels of Vitamin D in the blood have shown to improve memory and protect against dementia.  Sunshine is obviously about as natural as you can get.  Finding more ways to receive quality sunshine can prove to be a real boost to their overall health without costing a cent.  So go ahead, open those curtains or go for a good walk in the daylight, and you may find better health in a relatively short period of time.
