Get Rid of Morning Pain With These Tips
By Genevieve Cunningham
There's probably nothing worse than waking up in the morning with pain. When this happens, it tells us all we need to know about the rest of the day. If we wake up in pain, we're likely going to suffer in one way or another as the day goes on. And seriously, who wants to deal with that? But it's going to happen to everyone, right? As we get older, pain becomes more common. Luckily, though pain is definitely a part of life, you don't have to wake up in pain -- not today or any other day. If you would like to start each day pain-free and feeling your best, take a look at these tips to help you out.
Stretch Before Bed
After a long day at work, it's normal to be full of tension. Our muscles and joints are stiff and tired and sore. By the time we get home, we pour ourselves into bed without giving any thought to the state of our bodies. But if you want to be pain-free in the morning, maybe you should consider getting in a really good stretch before bed. This alleviates soreness and releases tension. Stretch the legs, the arms, and even the back -- especially since we tend to hold tension in this area. You may not notice a huge difference right away, but over time, you'll notice a more comfortable body both morning and night.
Get Comfortable at Night
Are you really getting good sleep at night? If not, it might be time to change your habits and environment. If your environment is uncomfortable, you're more likely to wake up in discomfort. Take a good look at your mattress and pillow. Are they both comfortable and supportive? Is your room at a comfortable temperature, or do you toss and turn and sweat all night? The more comfortable you can make your sleeping environment, the easier it is to keep your body comfortable and get a good night's sleep every night.
Exercise in the Morning
It's possible to seemingly do everything right and still wake up in pain. If this is you, you should consider doing some light exercise first thing in the morning. You might take a walk, do some yoga, go for a jog, or follow along with an online class. A little bit of movement can help work out any stiffness and soreness that you have in your body. This starts your day off pain-free, energy-filled, and ready to tackle the day as it arrives.
No one wants to wake up and start the day in pain. It's neither fun nor productive. Luckily, you don't have to! Use these tips to fight off morning pain and to keep your body feeling more comfortable and healthier than ever before.
