Maintain Healthy Posture With Chiropractic

By Stepy Kamei

One of the top reasons why Americans visit the doctor's office every year is due to the common cold. This may seem like an obvious answer, but what's less obvious to many people is the second-most common reason why appoinments with doctors are scheduled. As it turns out, back pain (lower back pain, in particular) is the second-most common reason why we see our doctors. Back pain is an issue which has affected virtually all of us at some point, and it can be brought on by a wide variety of causes. Unfortunately, many of us simply brush the issue aside and hope it will go away on its own. It's much better to take care of back pain as soon as it flares up, so it doesn't create further and potentially more serious health issues down the line. Be sure to take these simple steps to take care of your back and spinal health, and you'll be on track to a healthier lifestyle overall.

Maintain Proper Posture

Many of us have learned to take on a poor posture without even realizing it. It's important to correct bad posture not just for the sake of appearances; healthcare experts have found a direct correlation between people with regular poor posture and the increased chance of developing such issues as insomnia, weight gain, depression, anxiety, headaches and migraines, and chronic back pain.

To test your posture, stand with your back against a wall and notice which parts of your body naturally touch the wall. It should be the backs of your feet, your hips, shoulders, and the back of your head. If you need to adjust yourself to change this, you can take this as a sign that your posture needs to be worked on. Place sticky notes around your desk or your living room to remind yourself to straighten your spine when needed.
