Increasing the amount of water you drink can be easy. However, many people just do not like water. Some even drink the minimum amount. Increasing water is the key to maintaining health and meeting your personal fitness goals. If you are not a water drinker, staying hydrated is still important.
Increasing the amount of water you drink may not be your most exciting thing to accomplish. It will be the best thing you can do for your overall health. Here are five tips to increase your fluid intake.
Be Sure to Drink Every Time You Eat
While you may struggle with drinking enough during the day, it is almost certain you do not go without enough to eat. Making it a habit to drink something every time you grab a snack or have a meal can help you increase the amount of fluid you take in. Research shows that most of the time you think you are hungry, you really need a drink.
Choose Drinks You Enjoy
Using the old excuse that water is boring will not work here. Getting started on drinking more starts with simply adding drinks you enjoy. While soda is not the best choice, you should drink something you enjoy. There are plenty of flavored waters, sports drinks and juices from which to choose. Just choose something that will help you start your habit of taking in enough fluids.
Eat More Foods High in Water Content
Try adding more fruits and vegetables that are high in water content. Research suggests that about twenty percent of your fluid intake comes from the foods you eat. This counts for some water intake. Increasing your fruits and vegetables will also help you improve your overall diet and health.
Keep Water with You All Day
You are far more likely to drink more water if you have it handy. Invest in a stylish cup, a water bottle that easily fits in your bag or purse, or go for a recyclable bottle of water. No matter which you choose, making certain to always have water readily on hand will help you drink more.
Select Drinks that Meet Your Needs
Keep in mind that you need to pick a beverage that meets your needs. If you are trying to lose weight, a no-calorie drink would be best. Likewise, if you are diabetic a sugar-free drink would best fit your needs. When all else fails, reach for the water.
