Make a Few Things Easier by Adjusting the Temperature

By Tom Herrin

No one really prefers to do things the hard way, but people may avoid the easy ways by accident.  Anytime you may have issues, or challenges, you are attempting to overcome, finding things you may be able to do to make them happen a little simpler can make life much smoother.  Those who study people and how their environment affects their everyday activities come up with lots of interesting findings.  One of these is the effects of temperature on how our bodies work.  It can apparently have a significant impact on all kinds of things that may help to make our lives much better.

Temperature and Sleep May Have a Keen Relationship

When people struggle to sleep, it can be extremely frustrating.  The harder they try, the more difficult it sometimes seems.  It has been observed that there may be a certain range of temperatures that is optimal for helping this to happen.  It appears that temperatures from 65-72 are thought to be ideal and that 68 may be the prime target temperature.  One of the things that may be happening is that it may support the full sleep cycle better.  When people cannot go through this cycle properly, they will often have sleep that leaves them tired and unfulfilled.

Losing Weight May Be Supported by a Certain Temperature Range

For those who choose to exercise, they likely are aware that some temps are much easier for them than others.  It has been found that weight loss may be much easier when they have the right temperature in their living spaces.  This temp is thought to be from 64-67 degrees.  Not only this, but it is believed that those who can stand the cold may do themselves even more good.  They have found that those who shiver may increase their metabolic rate at which they burn calories by as much as five times.

It May Be Worth Trying

For those of us who have problems we simply cannot seem to overcome, we may want to try changing the temperature.  Anytime I want to start an aggressive weight loss program, I do so in the fall or spring.  This is because I feel these moderate temperatures work better for me at that time.  I also turn down my thermostat before I go to bed each night.  It seems to help me as I have had my share of sleepless nights.
