Drink to Good Health Often

By Tom Herrin

Everything we do should be for a purpose, or at least it should be given some thought as to why we have it on our list of beverages.  Even though we all know the value of simply drinking water, we also have times in which we want something with a little more flavor.  Finding this yet keeping it healthy can be a challenge.  Avoiding things such as carbonated drinks can be more difficult than it sounds.  Most of them are poor by comparison to any kind of healthy drink.  In order to find that right drink for you, it may be best to decide just what you are trying to accomplish.  Once you do that, it may be a matter of identifying one that meets these needs.

Beets Seem to Be Getting Lots of Attention

You may have heard of some kinds of supplements made from beets.  It may be a new thing, but beets may also make a really good drink.  They have much to offer.  They may help keep our hair and skin healthy.  They may also help with inflammation.  They are believed to help with digestion, and the newest thing is that they may help boost energy.  As a matter of fact, they are promoted as a good supplement for athletes.

Lemon Water Has Always Been Good

When most of us have gone to a restaurant and had water with a slice of lemon in it.  We may have squeezed it into the water, or we may have set it aside.  Lemon juice can add Vitamin C to water to supply vitamins we all need.  It is also thought to act as a natural diuretic in many cases.  Drinking something as simple as lemon water may be a good, healthy drink for any of us, and there is no worry about too many calories.

Almost Any Fruit Added to Water Can Be Great

When I fall off of the wagon on my drink choices, I try to go back to the basics.  I know I should drink more water.  As a result, I choose to add flavors to my water for some good results.  One of my kids prefers blackberry.  My wife often drinks pineapple flavors.  Some people choose non fruits such as chocolate or vanilla.  I prefer lime with strawberry.  You may play with virtually any flavors for a fun drink.
