What Eating Healthy Does for You
By Rachel Shouse
You've probably heard how important a healthy diet is. It may get rather annoying to hear so often, but it makes such a difference that it's worth the repetitiveness from your doctor. Making changes to your diet can be really hard. People tend to give up right before they get to the good part. Although changing habits is hard, it's very much worth it. By making positive changes to your diet you could lose weight, strengthen your bones and teeth, and even improve your mood.
Changing Your Diet Can Help You Lose Weight
Making healthy changes to your diet could really help you lose weight. Most good workout/weight loss plans talk about the importance of both exercise and a healthy diet. You hear a lot about people eating extra because they worked out that day. This is rather counterproductive. There are ways to still snack healthy whilst satisfying your cravings.
For example, grabbing some veggies instead of a processed snack could help. Even reducing a couple hundred calories a day could help you lose a half pound in a week. You don't have to completely remove all of the bad things. It doesn't hurt to evaluate and see where you could make changes. If you like chips, try tortilla chips and guacamole. Although the tortilla chips may not be great, avocados have plenty of healthy fats in them.
Strengthening Your Bones and Teeth Through Healthy Eating
Eating a diet that is high in calcium and magnesium is proven to strengthen bones and teeth. Don't worry about grabbing a multivitamin just yet. There are foods you can eat to increase both of these.
Foods such as, legumes, cauliflower, cabbage, and low-fat dairy products have an abundance of vitamins. If you're looking to expand your palate, do some research. See what types of vitamins you might need more of and see which veggie contains that. All of them are great regardless.
Better Diet, Better Mood
Although eating junk food might make you feel happy, it won't make you feel good. Constantly putting only junk into your body does not help it function well. If your body isn't working well, neither will you. People tend to feel better when they're able to be productive. Eating sugary foods isn't going to help you. Trade that out for something different.
It's so much easier to remain productive when you put food into your body that's actually going to give you energy. Although sugar will give you a small boost, it'll knock you out once it starts to exit your system., similar to how caffeine works.
You'd be surprised to see how quickly implementing a healthy diet can help you. It doesn't have to be perfect. Mistakes happen. Don't quit though. Always get back on track and try your best.
