Getting Healthy Together: 3 Tips For the Whole Family
By Virginia Laird
Finding ways to get healthy is a difficult thing for adults, much less for children. Still, overall health and wellness should be important for everyone in your home. Getting your children excited about improving their health can be a challenge. For this reason, health and wellness experts have offered a host of tips to help get the whole family involved in moving health in the right direction. A few things to consider doing for your entire family include:
- Go to the park
- Cut out soda
- Allow for only one treat each week
Go to the Park
Getting outside has been proven to be a great way to improve the overall health and wellness of those who indulge in the sunlight and fresh air. The same can be true for your family. Health and wellness experts suggest that getting outside can improve your immune system, provide a dose of Vitamin D to your body, and help reduce stress, among other things. The same experts suggest that planning a trip to the park to play ball, ride bikes, or simply enjoy the playground should be planned regularly with your family to help each member reap these benefits.
Cut Out Soda
While soda happens to be one of the favorite beverages among Americans, both young and old, it is not the best choice when it comes to protecting your health. Regular soda is loaded with sugar. Consuming too much of it can lead to diabetes and weight gain. Diet soda, on the other hand, is full of harmful chemicals which have been linked to a variety of illnesses, including some cancers. Research indicates that water is, by far, the healthiest beverage to consume. Consider cutting out soda, not only for yourself, but for your entire family.
Allow for Only One Treat Each Week
Experts admit that one of the bigger issues affecting health is the consumption of sugar. Research indicates that sugar can be addictive, in many cases more so than alcohol. Many of these experts admit that limiting your sugar can help eliminate your addiction. For many, a life without cookies and treats may be miserable. If this is you, experts suggest that you should limit you (and your family) to one treat each week. This can allow for the indulgence of tasty treats while keeping your sugar consumption in check.
Now is the time to begin taking control of health and wellness for your whole family.
