3 Things You Can Do to Improve Your Health
By Paul Rothbart
As the saying goes, "at least you have your health." That is without a doubt one of the most valuable things you can have. Good genetics are helpful, but staying healthy requires some effort. It comes down to a healthy lifestyle. You develop good habits and avoid the bad ones. There are three things that can be helpful in keeping you healthy if you do them consistently. Here are habits to consider.
Set Up a Sleep Schedule
Few things are as important to health as sleeping well. Restoring the body and mind is essential. Medical professionals recommended at least 8-9 hours of sleep per night and you should not allow yourself less than that. Tossing and turning don't provide the rest you need. It has to be solid sleep. To get that, set up a regular schedule. Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time each morning. Do this even on your off days. Your body will get used to it and know when it's time to sleep. Keep your bedroom dark, quiet, cool, and free from electronics. Avoid caffeine within two hours of bedtime and take the time to relax and wind down in the last 30 minutes before sleep.
Exercise
An active body is a healthy body. Regular exercise is critical. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise 4-5 times a week. It doesn't have to be strenuous or involve lifting heavy weights. Walking is excellent for your cardiovascular system and overall health. You could also run, swim, or bike. Playing sports is also a good way to stay fit. Choose something you enjoy and can stick with. Integrate exercise into your lifestyle and it will pay big dividends.
See a Chiropractor
Chiropractic care is not just for bad backs. It involves caring for the body as a whole. Subluxations in the neck and back can cause pain in those areas as well as headaches and other problems. A chiropractor can adjust these problems which can improve overall health. They can also keep your joints healthy which can make exercise easier and more effective. Some people find that regular chiropractic care helps them sleep better. In addition to its own potential benefits, chiropractic care can help with both exercise and sleep. It just might be the icing on the cake for your health.
Staying healthy is important to a productive and happy life. Getting good sleep of sufficient length each night is a key. So is regular exercise. Consider a visit to The Joint Chiropractic.
