Feeling Fat? These Tips Might Help Quickly
By Genevieve Cunningham
There’s nothing worse than that bloated feeling. You know the one. It’s that feeling of being puffy in the face. It’s the feeling that comes over you when your pants are too tight. It’s a feeling that we all know too well. And while having this feeling is perfectly normal on occasion, there are definitely times when we want to eliminate it as quickly as possible. If you’re going through one of these bloated phases, but you need to feel like yourself again, take a look at these tips for eliminating that feeling as quickly as possible.
Drink Water
If you have a few days (maybe you’re taking pictures this weekend), try drinking a ton of water. At first, it will feel counterproductive. You’ll feel even more bloated for a bit. But soon, the water will begin to melt off, and after a couple of days of increasing your water intake, you’ll start to feel slim again. This works best over the course of about a week, so if you need to get rid of bloat today, you may go with another approach. If you have a few days, this works wonders on the majority of people.
Change Clothes
It sounds too easy, right? But if you know the bloat is temporary and you just need to wait it out, putting on bigger clothes can make all the difference. The better your clothes fit, the better you’re going to feel mentally and emotionally. Put on something that isn’t quite as snug, and then stay away from any more bloat inducing foods. As the bloated sensation passes, you can go back to your favorite clothes, but you’ll feel a ton better in the meantime.
Eat Protein
Protein is great for fighting the bloat. If you’re feeling a bit big, stick to a lean protein source -- chicken, fish -- and skip anything that is heavy in the carbohydrates. No breads, potatoes, or heavy starches. Along with your lean protein, you can also eat some leafy greens or whole grains or oats. Doing this for a few meals may be all it takes to rid yourself of bloat and feel better than ever.
Feeling bloated is no fun, but it’s usually a temporary situation. If you need to beat the bloat, use these tips to get started. With a little persistence and patience, you’ll lose the bloat and feel like yourself again in no time.
