3 Ways to Cut Calories From Your Day

By Genevieve Cunningham

Cutting calories is never a fun thought. It means eating less of your favorite foods and maybe skipping dessert and soda and all of the other goodies. Most people don't look forward to it. But if we're being honest, most of us need to cut back on calories. We need to drop a few pounds -- not only to look better, but to be in a healthier state overall. If you need to cut calories from your diet, and you want to make it easy, take a look at these three ways to try starting today.

Drink Water

When it comes to calories, try your best not to drink them. If you drink your calories, you're going to consume way more than you think. One drink -- especially soda -- may contain over 100 calories, and you'll probably have more than one per day. Depending on your current flavored drink addiction, choosing water first might save you hundreds of calories every day. And if you can reduce your caloric total by hundreds of calories, you'll be almost sure to lose a little weight.

Skip Fast Food

Fast food is delicious. And of course, it's easy. Anytime that we're especially busy or in a hurry, we run through a drive thru for a quick snack. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst habits that you can have. Fast food is generally high in calories, high in fat, and terrible for overall health. Cut out as much fast food as you can, and you're more likely to meet your diet and health goals.

Have an Ending

Don't eat all day and all night. Set an ending for eating. Maybe you don't eat after dinner. If you eat in a window or in certain time limits within your day, it automatically reduces your overall calorie consumption. There isn't a particular time that's better than others. Do what works for you. And then stick with it to lower your caloric intake and give your body a rest every day.

Cutting calories isn't fun, but sometimes it's necessary. Luckily, you can make it a little easier on yourself. It doesn't have to be a huge hassle! Use these tips to reduce your overall consumption, and you'll be on the road to better health in no time at all.
