The Great Fatigue Fight: How to Really Gain Energy
By Genevieve Cunningham
There's nothing worse than feeling fatigued all day long. When we wake up, we already feel tired. Throughout the morning, we feel hazy and rundown. As the afternoon approaches, we really want a nap, but of course there's no time. By the time night rolls around, all we really want is to pour ourselves into bed. Sound familiar? And what's worse, we repeat the whole thing the next day. Fatigue is an incredibly common problem. It's one that plagues almost every American adult. But there's good news: Fighting fatigue is not only possible, but it might also be simple. If you're ready to regain some energy and leave fatigue behind, take a look at these energy boosting tips to try today.
Take a Good Look at Your Routines
Our routines are so important. A lack of routine can cause our bodies and minds more stress, and make us feel tired and out of sorts. Do you keep routines? Do you follow a wake up and bedtime routine? Do you exercise at the same time? All of these routines -- and others! -- have a huge impact on your quality of sleep and energy levels. If you're not following routines, start by creating one at a time, stick with them, and you'll likely find your daily energy begin to level out.
Stop Stressing
You probably can't cut all stress out of your life. Stress is normal and natural. The problem comes in when we have too much stress. When we're constantly worried about something -- kids, finances, jobs -- we place a lot of tension and strain on our bodies. You may find that you suffer more headaches and body aches, have less focus, and feel exhausted all the time. So how do we cut back on stress? We stick to our schedules, avoid procrastination, say no to more responsibilities, and take deliberate time to unwind and relax. As the stress melts away, you may find that the fatigue lessens naturally on its own.
Go to Sleep
For some people, the biggest obstacle to gaining more energy is getting enough sleep. And so many of us do it to ourselves. We get in bed at a decent time, but then we scroll through social media, read mindless internet articles, or text friends. If you want more energy, just go to bed! Put the phone down, turn off the TV, and make yourself go to sleep. This tiny little change will make a huge difference to the way that you feel, your mental well-being, and your daily energy almost right away.
If you're tired of being tired, it's time to make changes. Don't settle for exhaustion. Don't settle for being unfocused and fatigued every day. Use these tips to improve your rest and energy so that you'll have the stamina you need to excel in life every day.
