Getting Fit the Easy Way: 3 Tips to Get Started
By Genevieve Cunningham
There's no better feeling in the world than good health. The funny thing about good health is that we don't even notice it until we feel the opposite. It's not until we experience poor health -- sickness, injury, pain -- that we truly appreciate our well-being. But let's face it: Changing our health and making progress in our fitness can feel like such a chore. It can feel so much more difficult than it has to be. If you're interested in making progress in your overall health, wellness, and general fitness, take a look at these three super easy ways to get started right away.
Walk
Yes, you can get fit just by walking. Many people think that this is too good to be true, but it can absolutely work. Walking burns calories, fires the muscles, and builds stamina. The key to making it work? Be consistent! Get out and walk a little every day. When you need a challenge, walk faster or longer. Walk up hills. Walk new trails. Just move! If you're serious about getting fit, use this easy little step to get stepping (literally!) in the right direction.
Stretch
Are you flexible? There was probably a point in time when you were very flexible. Most kids and young adults have a bit of flexibility in their bodies. But as we get older, we tend to lose some of that range of motion. If you want to truly get fit and healthy, you have to gain some of that back. Start stretching right now. It might hurt, and that's OK, but stick with it. Over time, your body will gain massive flexibility, and suddenly exercise (and life in general!) will be easier. You'll also feel more fit with loose muscles, which is a huge part of living a healthy life -- feeling the part. You don't have to leave your house. You don't need equipment. You don't have an excuse! Start stretching, and you'll undoubtedly improve your health.
Water, Water, and More Water
Are you drinking enough water? The answer is probably no. Why is the answer no? Because the vast majority don't drink enough water, so chances are good that you fall into this group. What's funny is that this one habit might have the biggest impact on your health -- and it's the easiest too. And yet, it's the one that gets skipped most often. Start drinking more water to see improvements in your skin, your weight, your focus, and many more aspects of your health and life.
Getting fit is not only possible, but it can be easy. We just have to choose a few healthy habits and stick with them. Use these easy habits as a starting point, and get moving toward the best health of your life.
