How to Lose Weight When Movement is Restricted

By Genevieve Cunningham

There are numerous reasons why movement may be restricted in your life. Maybe you're working more hours than ever. Maybe the weather has you stuck indoors. Whatever the case may be, restricted movement often means added pounds for many. But does it have to be that way? It definitely does not! And what's more, it's actually possible to lose weight even when you can't move as much as you'd like. If you need to lose some weight without much movement, take a look at these tips to help you find success.

Get Strict About Diet

The biggest part of losing weight is actually improving your diet. We often think that it's a hardcore workout or heavy weights that gets us to our goal, and those things certainly help. But about 80 percent of your body composition is determined by diet. If you're not able to get in a lot of movement right now, focus on what goes into your mouth. Stop drinking soda and drink water instead. Don't reach for sweet snacks, but instead opt for fruit or vegetables. Count your calories. Pay attention! If you pay close attention to your diet and make positive changes, you can lose weight no matter how much movement you're getting in everyday life.

Make Small Movements

Movement doesn't have to be something grand to make a difference. Small movements count too. If you're stuck inside, try doing some squats or lunges, getting in some jumping jacks, or practicing yoga. Try walking around your house or stretching multiple times per day. It might not feel as beneficial or as challenging as running a mile, but it will still get you closer to your goals. Squeeze in a little movement wherever you can. Big or small, regular movement works wonders for your health and your goals over time.

Losing weight is an important goal. It means the difference between good and poor health for a lot of people. It affects the way our bodies function and the way we feel about ourselves as a whole. But losing weight is also hard, and if you feel like you can't get moving, it can feel harder than ever. Use these tips to help you burn off a few pounds, and you'll improve your health and feel better than ever before you know it.
