Dr. Michael Jarry joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2016 and has been the local chiropractor at the Windward Plaza clinic since 2017. He received his doctorate of chiropractic from Life University where he also studied sports medicine, physiotherapy, and nutrition.
“The thing I love most about being in the chiropractic field is being able to improve people’s quality of life naturally by correcting the root cause of their pain,” he says.
A product of Palm Bay, Fla., Dr. Jarry enjoys golfing and rebuilding classic cars in his spare time. He and wife Anslie don’t have kids, but they do have a German shepherd named Hansel and a Labrador/pit bull mix named Dexter.
The defining moment on Dr. Jarry’s career path took place when he was a teenager who had suffered through a traumatic experience. “I knew this was for me when chiropractic care saved my baseball career in high school after a car accident,” he says. “Multiple doctors told me I would not be able to play again. Through chiropractic care, I did play again.”
Dr. Jarry says the best thing about working at Windward Plaza is that “I am able to give hundreds of people the care and relief they need at an affordable price.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
The one thing Dr. Jarry always keeps in his refrigerator at home, he says, is water -- and for a very good reason: “It is essential for life.”
If he could bring together any four people from history for the dinner party of his dreams, Dr. Jarry would choose the founder of chiropractic, B.J. Palmer, and the man credited with inventing baseball (“the greatest American pastime in sport”), Abner Doubleday. As well, Dr. Jarry would like to pick the brains of Plato and Isaac Newton.
“I would love to explore more of Plato’s thoughts and philosophy, through his point of view, and how those views relate to this time period versus his time period,” he says. “As one of the greatest physicists and mathematicians of the 17th century, I would love to talk to Newton about how he found his inspiration and his thought process on making new discoveries.”
Dr. Jarry says the coolest thing he has ever done revolved around the sport he loves so much. “I traveled the country playing baseball,” he says. “I was able to meet a lot of different and amazing people -- as I continue to do through my profession now as a doctor.”
Dr. Jarrod Wise became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2020 when he began serving residents in suburban Atlanta, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“The best thing about being in the chiropractic field is that I understand and convey the true nature of health and I am able to help people connect to their own healing abilities,” he says. “I enjoy educating and empowering my patients with the necessary knowledge to thrive.”
It has allowed Dr. Wise to grow personally. “It continually pushes me out of my comfort zone to become a greater healer,” he adds. “I am constantly learning new concepts and techniques to help my patients.”
Dr. Wise grew up in Atlanta and he has practiced in Alpharetta since 2002. He earned a communications degree from University of Georgia, then attended Life University, where he received his doctorate degree in chiropractic.
He and his wife have three sons, and their family includes a cat named Yucca and a miniature poodle named Poker. They enjoy hiking. In his spare time, he likes sports, music, movies, puzzles, and reading. “I feel it’s important to regularly stimulate the body, mind, and spirit,” he says. “I like studying metaphysics and the healing sciences.”
A certified life coach, Dr Wise’s notable areas of study include anatomy, physiology, nutrition, communication, exercise science, and metaphysics. “I have always been interested in holistic health and natural healing,” Dr. Wise says. “I wanted to be in a profession that was part of my everyday way of life. I knew chiropractic was my calling by the feeling that came over me when I initially toured the campus of Life University. The philosophical quotes that were posted all over campus, and the courses that were offered, filled me with a sense of certainty that my life path has led me to be a chiropractor.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
You know the saying that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Turns out that doctors love apples too: “There are many items that I enjoy and keep regularly stocked, but organic apples are always in my refrigerator because of their delicious health benefits.”
If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Wise would love to sit down with karate legend Bruce Lee, music legend John Lennon, and polymaths Leonardo DaVinci and Nikola Tesla. “Four geniuses,” Dr. Wise says. “The conversations would fascinate and creatively inspire me for a lifetime.”
Should Dr. Wise ever write his autobiography, he would title it Reconnecting to the Wisdom Within “because we are our own healers when we connect to our inner wisdom.”
Wisdom is important to him, and if there’s any bit of advice he could offer anyone, it would be this: “Differentiate between what you can influence and what you cannot. Choose to respond to what you can control and accept what you cannot control.”
