3 Fun Workouts Without Thinking About It
By Genevieve Cunningham
Working out and exercising on a regular basis is extremely important. Not only does it help us maintain a proper weight, but it can also improve multiple body functions such as blood pressure, circulation, metabolism, and many others. But sometimes working out is tough. It might seem boring or too challenging or too easy or a million other excuses that keep us from hitting the gym. Perhaps that’s why it’s so important to keep your exercises fun and entertaining. The more fun you have, the more likely you are to keep at it! To get you moving down a healthy path, check out these three fun ways to work out that you don’t even have to think about.
Dance
This doesn’t even have to be in a formal class with a teacher. If you enjoy dancing, turn on some music in your home, and get after it. You’ll burn calories, have a ton of fun, and work all of your muscles without ever technically working out. If you’re brave or have the desire, you can also join a class of your choosing for an incredible, sweat-dripping good time.
Hiking
If you love the great outdoors, find your local park and hike. This can be low impact with a flat surface, or you can make it challenging with a course that has hills or climbing or other variables. This allows you to work out without being stuck in a stuffy gym, offers a breath of fresh air, and can even boost moods with some much needed Vitamin D.
Water Time
Working out in the water is such hard work. The water works as resistance, so your muscles are getting a lot of work! On top of that, the water’s buoyancy also takes the pressure off of your joints and sore spots, so you may find exercising a lot easier while in the water. Your options are endless as well. You can swim, do water aerobics, walk in the water, tread, or just relax when you need it. It’s fun, it’s challenging, and you won’t even feel like it’s an exercise to avoid.
If you’re not already working out, you really should add it to your routine. But, you don’t have to suffer through running or kickboxing or some other form of exercise that you don’t like. Find something fun and entertaining, and make your workouts last for a lifetime of health and wellness.
