Dr. David Olt grew up in the Midwest, living in both Dayton, Ohio and Indianapolis Indiana. He continued his education by attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business.
He came from a family who believed in chiropractic and remembers going with his mother for her adjustments when her back went out. His grandmother was also a big advocate and continued receiving care into her 90’s. Dr. Olt’s first adjustment came when he was 16 after being injured playing tennis.
Upon graduating college he spent 3 years in Pittsburgh, PA as a retail executive but moved to Atlanta in 1989 to be with friends and soon started at Life University where he graduated Cum Laude in 1994. He then practiced for a year in northwest Indiana, 5 years as an Independent Contractor, and ultimately opened Integrated Chiropractic Center In Buckhead and served that community for 15 years. In July 2016, he joined the team at the Joint and splits his time between the Buckhead and Chastain Square offices.
Personal honors in his life have been running the Olympic Torch in 1996, receiving the 4 Avenues of Service Award from Rotary in 1998 and Member of the Year from the AGLCC in 2014. He is also one of the examiners for the Chiropractic National Boards.
His favorite catch phrase is “I’m always doing my best work behind your back”.
Dr. Bradley Mealy became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2021 when he began serving residents in the Atlanta area, where he continues doing the work he finds so rewarding.
“The best thing about being a chiropractor is getting to see my patients’ ‘lightbulb’ moment, usually after their first adjustment or after a breakthrough during their treatment plan,” he says. “It’s gratifying to get a chance to impact people’s lives in a way that no other healthcare professional can.”
Dr Brad, as his patients call him, is a product of Erie in Northwestern Pennsylvania, where he attended Gannon University, earned a bachelor’s degree in health science, and met his wife during freshman year. They have two sons and a daughter, as well as a yellow Labrador named Maggie that’s with them whenever they are outside the home. They enjoy time outdoors along with the entertainment options of the greater Atlanta area. He also likes completing DIY projects around the house.
He attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and received his doctorate in 2011.
“I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor when I had a spinal issue fixed at a young age that was causing severe pain,” Dr. Brad says. “The medical field didn’t have an answer for the issue I was having. After my parents took me to a local chiropractor in my hometown, he fixed the issue in just a couple of adjustments. From then on, I knew I wanted to be in this profession.
“I’ve had a lot of memories from my career. The best ones are times when we’re able to help a patient when they were at the ‘end of their rope.’ They had exhausted all possible avenues of treatment for their condition, but after chiropractic care they saw immediate positive results for the first time.”
One of the best things about working at the Buckhead location, Dr. Brad says, is “educating new patients about how valuable regular chiropractic care is.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Dr. Brad says the one condiment he always keeps at the ready is Frank’s Hot Sauce: “It can go on just about anything and make it taste that much better.”
If he could assemble any cast from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Brad would sit down with Benjamin Franklin “to talk about how he continued to push on with his inventions despite so many failures,” comedian Will Ferrell, developer of chiropractic BJ Palmer, and movie director Christopher Nolan “to pick his brain on how he can come up with his sci-fi plots.”
Among the most rewarding experiences of his life was a week spent in Manaus, Brazil, providing free chiropractic care. “We got to see just how much a simple, free chiropractic adjustment impacted the lives of that community,” Dr. Brad says. “There were people lined up almost a quarter-mile outside the clinic to get a chance to be adjusted by us. It showed me how lucky we are in this country to have the accessibility to not only chiropractic care, but healthcare in general.”
Dr. Brad says that some of the best advice he ever received was that “success is not in a straight line; use failure as a teaching tool and make it a point to never make the same mistake twice.”
