Commuting Can Be A Recipe For Pain

By Tom Herrin

So many of us live in larger cities in this day and age, we might spend long hours behind the wheel of our cars.  While we may get used to the fact, it doesn’t make it any more pleasant.  A bigger problem than spending so much time in traffic is the toll it can take on our bodies.  That old saying about white knuckles is a pretty accurate description.  We have our hands locked on the wheel while holding our head and neck in such a way that tension builds up pretty bad.  The result is pain in our neck and upper back that makes us feel we have been sentenced for a crime.  If this fits your experience, a chiropractor can provide real relief.

The Real Problem

When we drive all knotted up, our muscles become tense.  With no free movement, they cannot move used waste materials out of the cells.  It kind of builds up.  This ends up in poor support for our joints, which are already undergoing stress themselves by the same lack of movement.  It is very common for the joints in our neck to suffer.  Pressure is then applied to a nerve.  Pain is the result, and it isn’t pleasant.  Chiropractors call this a joint dysfunction.  You won’t have to worry about whether or not you have it, there will be considerable nagging pain that stays with you.

The Chiropractor’s Role

Joint dysfunctions are something that just don’t go away on their own.  In comes the chiropractor.  Their skills are important to the job of relieving pain without medication.  Your chiropractor will perform an adjustment in which the spine will be gently manipulated to restore the joint to its proper function.  They will do things to relax tense muscles as well.  This will help the muscles to allow the joint to move as it should.  You may have total relief with only one session, but sometimes the joint has been stressed for a while and will require several sessions to get it to remain in proper place.

Natural Treatment Is Just That

When chiropractors provide treatment for you, they try to avoid pain medication.  They may suggest some exercises to support you.  They may also make other suggestions that will enhance your lifestyle.  Many people prefer a regular schedule of treatment to help them to avoid future injury.  At The Joint Chiropractic, they will do everything possible to relieve your pain.  No insurance is required, and no appointments are needed.  They are open weekdays and weekends, days and evenings.  Don’t let commuting be a pain for you.  Drop in at The Joint Chiropractic today.
