How to Beat Ongoing Fatigue - 4th Week

By Genevieve Cunningham

The older I get, the more common it is for me to use the “T” word. You’re probably quite familiar with it too. Tired. No matter what time of day it is, I’m almost always tired, and I know that most other adults feel the same way. So, what gives? Are we all doomed to be exhausted for the rest of our lives? Though we’ll likely never have the energy of our youth, there may be some ways to beat ongoing fatigue and gain back a little of that pep in the step. For the perpetually fatigued, check out these tips to try as soon as today.

Don’t Skip the Exercise

The last thing that you feel like doing when you’re already tired is exercising. Trust me, I know! But regular exercise is one of the best ways to maintain higher energy levels. Exercise produces two very important chemicals in the body, adrenaline and endorphins. These two hormones work hand in hand to give your body energy and make it feel content. The more you exercise, the more level these will be, and the more energy you’re likely to have on an everyday basis.

Get on a Schedule

The better scheduled your day, the better rest you’re going to get, and the more energy you’re going to have. When everything about your day is erratic and wild, you’re absolutely going to be exhausted at the day’s end. Set a wake-up time, and stick to it. Exercise at roughly the same time every day. Set a bedtime, and stick to it. The more consistency that you provide for yourself, the healthier and more accustomed your body will be, which can lead to more stable energy levels in the future.

Take Power Naps

Don’t underestimate the power of a quick, deep nap. If you really can’t shake fatigue, try scheduling in some naps. These rest periods can be as short as 10 minutes, and you’ll still feel more energized on the other side. Sometimes, your brain just needs a few minutes to reset and relax. Allow it. Encourage it. Some regularly scheduled power naps can change your health, your energy, and the way you feel about life.

Don’t be discouraged if you’re feeling fatigued all of the time. Just make a plan. There are some steps that you can take to get your energy levels back where they belong. Give these tips a try, and see if you can’t beat ongoing fatigue once and for all.
