Meet The Doctors
“What do you want to be when you grow up?" This is one question that we are all asked from childhood to our late teenage years. For me, however, this was a question that I never had an exact answer to. “I just want to help people,” was always my reply. I knew in my heart that there was a perfect profession for me somewhere where I could truly affect peoples' lives. It took a severe back injury to put me on my ultimate path.
My introduction to Chiropractic care My very first visit to the Chiropractor was as a result of an injury sustained at work. I was working in the mailroom of a large corporation and hurt my back lifting a box one eventful afternoon. The pain left me in agony for over 3 weeks. I went to one doctor after another in the “Worker's Compensation” circle. I was getting no relief and there was talk of surgery. It was then that a friend of mine mentioned chiropractic. I was intrigued so I inquired about chiropractic care as part of my rehab, but was met with stern warnings. I was told that if I didn't follow the treatment regimen or sought care outside of the workers comp umbrella, my claims would become void and that I would be responsible for my care. My fear of surgery led me underground so to speak. Unbeknownst to the workers comp doctors, I sought chiropractic care through my friend's chiropractor. This was unlike any experience I had ever had in a doctor's office before. Within just a few adjustments, I was back on my feet and back at work. I learned that Chiropractors are very skilled and knowledgeable doctors who are trained in many areas. I learned that not only do Chiropractors help with back and neck injuries, but they truly care about their patients' problems. But most of all, I realized how much I had been helped by the Chiropractor and how I couldn't wait to help people in the same way, so I became a Chiropractor myself!
Chiropractic Education. I was accepted to attend the prestigious Life University of Chiropractic right here in Atlanta. During my 4 years at Life University, I learned the only limitations that we have are those that we accept or believe. Upon graduation from Life University, I started my career as a Chiropractor in the Atlanta area. A few years out of school, I opened a practice in Eastman, GA where I served a large population of Middle Georgia for over 11 years. During that time our office treated over 6,000 new patients. In 2010 I moved back to the Atlanta area to be closer to my son and family. I am now in my 25th year of practice. I continue to further my knowledge by attending frequent educational seminars on several health-related topics, including nutrition, sports care, wellness, weight loss and pediatric care. I am currently involved with the Georgia Chiropractic Association and the International Chiropractic Association. My take on true health... My health philosophy is simple. True health comes from a properly functioning nervous system. Your nervous system controls every process in your body, from your immune system to the functioning of your organs and muscles. When your nervous system is not able to function properly, commonly from the interference of spinal misalignments, your body is not able to function at 100%, causing ill-health and “disease". I feel that everyone should have the benefit of pure health through Chiropractic! It's safe, effective and doesn't require harmful drugs or painful surgery. More and more people around the world are discovering the benefits of Chiropractic care. This is because it is founded on the principles of overall wellness and not on treating symptoms.
A little bit about me Outside The Joint, I love to spend quality time with loved ones and it is extremely important to me. During my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors playing golf or tennis, bike rides, and competitive shooting. I am also a huge sports fan, participating in many sports and cheering on my favorite teams. I look forward to relaxing Sunday drives as they rejuvenate me for the week ahead. Music is another interest and I appreciate all the different genres! I am very grateful that I have been able to share the importance of Chiropractic care with my family as well. I am frequently reminded to bring my portable table every time I travel for a family get-together. My parents love it when I come home for a visit. Chiropractors need chiropractic care too! Chiropractic has played a huge role in my own personal health as well. I receive adjustments from my Chiropractor on a weekly basis while watching my overall health and wellness constantly grow to new heights. As a professional chiropractor in Buford, I do my best to stay abreast of all the latest happenings in the field of chiropractic care. This amazing profession never ceases to amaze me and my aim is to help as many people as I can on a daily basis. I am as excited about this profession as the day I graduated from college. When I look into a patient's happy face...that is all the motivation I need to come to work the next day and do my best to improve their overall health.
