How to Invest in Yourself and Profit Long Term
By Sandy Schroeder
The way the market shifts and the world spins right now, knowing how to invest can be quite a challenge. But don’t miss the most important investment of all -- the investment into you and your health.
Wherever you are in work, career, investments and performance, you and your health are a team. Keeping that team in peak condition can make the difference in your options for life.
What Really Happens
For years I have been focusing on the idea that we all move between the areas of health, wealth and stealth, as our life plays out. See if you agree.
Usually when we are born, the playing field is level and health is ours to enjoy. As we wander through childhood, and stumble through our teens, finally moving into young adulthood, health follows. When we move out of school into the working world, wealth -- or the lack of it -- often becomes increasingly dominant. We learn we really have to show up, and do well on a daily basis, to pay our way. So we power ahead and give it our all.
If that pays off, we often go from health to wealth and then we are almost ready for the stealth cycle. That’s the magic time when we really can pull off a first rate conference, sumptuous dinner, and night out, without having to pay much of a health or wealth price.
We should savor those moments, because a new round of health challenges may appear next. Having sometimes forgotten to watch the diet, hit the gym, or find time to siphon off stress, medical checkups or physical symptoms can accumulate.
Then we have to pay attention, and sometimes pay a price, losing weight, exercising more, and watching our health numbers. Before you get way into those areas, it might be smart to invest as you go.
A Healthier You
Make small deposits every day with 30 minutes of exercise. Figure out how to make healthy foods fit your taste buds, and take time to line up some good vents, like weekend getaways, daily meditations, or easy deep breathing exercises. These simple steps could all pay off in better health in the long run.
Along the way, you might want to check out another possible health option.
