How to Have Painless Holiday Travels
By Brandi Goodman
Traveling may be part of your holiday plans. If they are, it's important to consider how to get through it as painless as possible. Painless holiday travels are possible as long as you keep a few tips in mind.
Adjust Your Seat
You should start any trip by adjusting your seat. This is easier in a vehicle when you have more of an ability to change the seat's position to how you like it. The same may not apply in a train or plane, but you may still be able to recline slightly or sit up straight so your body is supported as necessary. If you can't, be sure to bring a lumbar support pillow to place behind your back.
Stretch While Sitting
It isn't necessary to wait until you stop to stretch. Try stretching while sitting so you can keep your joints flexible and loose rather than allowing them to stiffen and become sore easily. Flex your foot. Extend your toes. Tighten your leg muscles and release. There's lots of easy options that can help to get blood flowing and keep your joints flexible to prevent pain. Of course get up and stretch your full body as well when you're able.
Send the Gifts Ahead
Traveling with extra gifts on top of your normal luggage can be a hassle. You'll have extra weight to carry and try to transport. Send the gifts ahead so you don't have to worry about lugging them around. Just be sure to plan this accordingly so someone will be available to accept the delivery at the intended location. If you'll be staying at a hotel, it is particularly important to make sure sending things ahead of time is allowed and that they'll be kept safe until your arrival.
Wear Comfortable Clothes
You may not consider what you're wearing to play a part in whether you'll experience pain while traveling. The fact of the matter is that restrictive clothing will not allow you to stretch and move your body as necessary to prevent joint stiffness. Wear comfortable clothes so you have the ability to move and stretch as needed.
Keep these tips in mind so you can enjoy your holidays between or after your travel plans. You don't want to end up bedridden and unable to participate because you're out of commission with a bad back.
