How Are You on Tomatoes?
By Tom Herrin
Everyone has different tastes in all kinds of things. Cars, clothes, entertainment, or foods come in lots of varieties. Many times, those things are simply based on some personal preferences. At other times, people may weigh what kinds of options are available before making a choice. Those who are concerned about economy may choose to drive a car that has a good record for mileage and service. Clothes may be selected based on climate and style. Food is usually a choice that is made due simply to likes, but sometimes, it has to do with some bad experience. One food that most people enjoy, even if they don't think about it, is tomatoes. They are in a lot of foods in one way or another. They are not a bad thing for health either.
They Have Some Good Nutrients
Even though people usually think of other things as such, tomatoes are a good source of Vitamin C which can be an effective antioxidant. They also contain Vitamin A and potassium. Both of these are considered to be significant contributors to supporting issues dealing with circulation. The Vitamin K they have is generally sought to help with blood clotting and control of bleeding.
They May Help the Urinary Tract
Plenty of people have problems with their urinary tracts. Some of it may be due to lifestyle issues such as poor eating and drinking habits. Tomatoes have a high water content. This can help to serve as a natural diuretic. They have been associated with prevention of gallstones as well. Many people suffer from problems related to this painful condition.
They Are Found in Many Foods
Some of us like tomatoes and don't even realize it. How many people enjoy ketchup with their foods? It may be used on fries, meatloaf, fish, and countless other things. Salsa is another condiment that seems to be everywhere. For those who enjoy many foods such as spaghetti, pizza, or many other pasta-based dishes, tomatoes are often a major ingredient. We often eat them in soups, beans, or chili. While many of us eat them some, including them in our diets on a daily basis can be one more way of boosting our health without making much effort. Of course, they are always a good addition to a home-style hamburger with lettuce and pickles.
