3 Unhealthy Habits to Kick Before Spring
By Genevieve Cunningham
It’s almost here … spring. If you already live in a warm area, this might not mean much as far as weather is concerned. But the incoming of spring often brings about more than just warm weather. It’s also a great time for people to start over with renewed dedication to goals and a positive attitude. If that sounds like a worthy goal for this spring season, listen up! To help you get off on the right foot, take a look at these habits to ditch before the official start of the season.
We all get into social media slumps. While there’s nothing wrong with the social media phenomenon on the surface, too much time spent online can wreak havoc on mental and emotional well-being. Before spring arrives, cut back on time spent online. Log off of Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and just enjoy real life happening all around you. Get a nice healthy detox from the online social world. This will help you enter the spring with a more positive attitude and a newfound strength for meeting personal goals.
There’s something about the holidays that makes midnight snacking a thing. Even though the holidays are long past, it’s possible that the midnight snacking habit stuck around. Now is a great time to kick it to the curb. Quitting this habit might help you get more sleep, cut calories, burn fat, and get closer to any weight loss or fitness goal that has been set. It might be difficult at first, but stick with it! The body will adjust and you’ll soon forget about that midnight hunger temptation.
The Netflix Binge
Who doesn’t love a good Netflix binge? Being able to watch an entire season in one day is too tempting to pass up. But if this is an indulgent habit multiple times a week or all weekend long, it's probably time to cut back. Sitting in front of the TV for hours on end is not good for anyone, and it’s probably taking away from time spent on physical activity. With the spring breeze in the air, now is a great time to give up the binges and get moving instead.
Are these terrible habits? Probably not the worst ever, but they may very well be getting in the way of long-term success. Ditch (or at least cut back!) these habits and you may notice a big difference in the quest to reach those ultimate goals. With an eye on the prize and the spring air to help you stay motivated, a better you may be just around the corner.
