While you probably already knew that both walking and jogging are healthy habits to keep, you may not have been aware that the real way to burn massive calories is to add sprinting. Why? Because sprinting requires quick and powerful bursts of energy. Requiring quick energy forces the body to reach for fuel and to do it quickly. It reaches into your reserves in order to provide you with the energy that you demand. Luckily, you don’t have to sprint for long periods of time. Just work a few sprints into your normal workout and you’ll burn more calories than ever.
Jumping is another move that requires quick and powerful bursts of energy. Whether it’s jumping rope, jumping stairs, or jumping jacks, any form of jumping demands that the body use a blast of energy. It also requires the use of a large muscle group … the quadriceps. When the body uses large muscle groups, it needs more energy to make these muscles work. Add a few rounds of jumping into your routine, and your calorie count will sky rocket.
Anytime that you add weights to the routine, it makes the move more challenging and also requires more energy to get the job done. While lifting heavy weights requires the most energy and burns the most calories, even small weights can make a big difference. Start small so you don’t burn yourself out, and then add heavier weights when your body is ready.
