Missing Your Gym? You Are Not Alone!

Is your gym or fitness boutique closed indefinitely? Do you feel as if you are missing out because you can't duplicate your workouts while at home? Well, you may appreciate the fact that you are not alone. Fellow fitness enthusiasts from all across the country are feeling the exact same way that you are, but fortunately, there are several things you can do to shake those missing-the-gym blues.

Separation Anxiety Issues

If you are struggling with separation anxiety because you can't get into your favorite gym, you may have to change your perspective. On top of that, you may also have to change course when it comes to your daily fitness routine. Take a look at the following suggestions that may help you get through this time.

  • Use the outdoors - Your workouts in the gym wouldn't be complete without a quick run on the treadmill or an exhilarating turn on the spin cycle, would they? Luckily, you don't have to give them up just because your gym is closed. Pounding out those miles on a run or pulling your bike out of the garage is a great way to keep those exercises in your routine.
  • Call your gym - Many gyms understand the struggles that their members are going through right now and as a result, most are offering their classes online which is a great way to keep up with the same exercises that your body is used to. If your gym is not offering virtual classes though, simply look online! You will be sure to find many videos that are similar to what you were already doing.
  • Invest in or rent equipment - Perhaps this is the time to buy some equipment of your own? Check out your local social media marketplace groups to see if anyone is selling their stationary cycle, treadmill, or free weights, or buy yourself an early birthday gift that includes brand-new equipment! A last resort would be to see if your gym is offering equipment to rent. You may be surprised by what you find in your search.
  • Participate in virtual fitness challenges - This is a great way to work out and stay connected with your friends! Designate someone to come up with a challenge and then look forward to a lot of friendly competition! Switch up the challenge from week to week to keep the interest alive. Burpees anyone?

The more you work out and release your stress, the better you will feel! So go ahead and get moving. The day when your favorite gym will be open back up is right around the corner!
