Bags Can Carry Anything, Including A Recipe for Pain
By Tom Herrin
These days you can get anything portable. We carry laptops, workout bags, purses, tool kits, etc. For the most part, if a store sells it, they also sell something to carry it in. If it has a handle or strap, we’ll try our best to pick it up and carry it. How many times have you seen someone who appears to be about to fall over or collapse while they are carrying some kind of bag? Do you think that could be good for you? It is not very likely. If you are one of those, no wonder you go home exhausted and aching. A lot of people may be doing it and experiencing pain, but that doesn’t make it normal. If you are in pain from this, you would be well advised to see a local chiropractor.
You Are Not Trying to Build Muscles this Way
There are a lot more productive ways of working out than carrying heavy bags, but this is how some people work out. The problem is that this type of workout is only affecting one side of the body. That is the worse kind. Carrying a heavy load, most often on your dominant side, will build up muscles on that side. The other side is left to normal means. The result of this is only bad. Not only will you risk problems from the leaning and counterbalancing, but increasing muscles on one side throws your body out of correct balance. This causes your body to try to compensate. Your walking form will be greatly disrupted.
Imbalance Likely Means Out of Alignment
When you are driving your car and suddenly notice that it pulls to one side, you find that you have to steer it slightly the other way to go in a straight line. Your body works very much the same. An overload on one side can damage muscles causing them to be tense and strained. It can also end up in the vertebrae slipping as you struggle to make your body work correctly. This can then apply pressure on nerves, causing pain. Fortunately, your chiropractor can help. They can manipulate your spine with an adjustment, just like an alignment with your car. This can ease that pressure and help you to feel much more normal.
You Will Need To Make Some Changes
Once your chiropractor gives you an adjustment, he or she will more than likely discuss your habits and causes of your problem. They will make some suggestions as to what you might do to avoid further problems. They may also suggest some exercises. At The Joint Chiropractic, they are interested in helping you to develop a healthy lifestyle. They can develop a treatment plan just for you, with affordable pricing.
