The Worst Foods in the World!

By Sara Butler

Some foods may not seem as if they’re terrible for you, but when you dig a little deeper you discover just how completely unhealthy they actually are. If you’re looking to improve your health and eat better (who isn’t?) then you have to start by understanding what is in the food you eat. Here are a few foods you will be better off staying away from in order to get healthy.

Coffee Creamer

Cream isn’t the worst thing you can eat, but the problem with coffee creamer is there’s actually no cream in it. Instead, there are trans fats, sugar, and coloring that make for a pretty scary food. Trans fats have been linked to diminished memory, an increase of heart disease, and other health problems. It’s so bad that the Food and Drug Administration is banning it starting in 2018. Until then, and even after, be on the lookout for partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oil, monoglycerides, and diglycerides, which also contain trans fat.

If you love creamer in your coffee, opt instead for good, old-fashioned cow’s milk or unsweetened almond or coconut milk. They’re much better for you.

Fruit Juice

How could something so natural be so bad for you? Well, pretty easily it turns out! Fruit is definitely part of a healthy diet, but fruit juice is missing something very important – fiber. The natural fiber often found in the skin and flesh of fruit helps to slow down the absorption of sugars and actually fill you up. Fruit juice strips all that away. On top of that, they add even more sugar to juice, making it about as good for you as a candy bar.

If you don’t want to just drink water, consider adding some fruit slices to it. That’s much better for you than juice.

Frozen Entrees

Some frozen foods aren’t bad for you at all. Simple frozen fruits and vegetables are actually quite good for you, provided they don’t have anything extra added to them. Frozen entrees, on the other hand, are loaded with trans fat and sodium. They’re so full of preservatives that they are just plain terrible for you.

Instead of frozen meals for convenience, try making your own meals ahead of time and then freezing them in small batches. That will help you to have food available to you that you actually know is good for you.

Food can be deceiving, but the more you know, the healthier you will be!
